Gàidhealtachd 2027 will once again be held at the Maungaturoto Country Club from 1-7 January and the Trust Board and advisors are working hard behind the scenes towards another amazing event.

Theme: The Storytellers

This year our theme will be The Storytellers. The Celtic nations have a rich tradition of story telling through oral histories, telling stories in their own right through myths, legends, poetry, plays, songwriting and singing, music, dances, art and craft.

We want to fully explore this theme including how the stories have travelled and what do they teach us today. While we have a few ideas, we would love your input too. Please think about what you can offer in the way of workshops – perhaps a storytelling session, a short play, an exchange of poetry, a songwriting class, create a new dance, or give a talk about an aspect of storytelling, create an art piece that tells a story etc – and please don’t be limited by this short list – there may be lots of ideas, which we would love to consider as part of our programme.

Share the Gàidhealtachd Story

One of the things we would like to do is to have a group effort writing the story of the Gàidhealtachd and it doesn’t matter is you have been attending Gàidhealtachd for years or are a relatively new person to our Community. Everyone will have their memories and perspectives of Gàidhealtachd and these will all contribute to our history. Please share your stories with us. In some case we have three generations of families attending. The Gàidhealtachd babies have grown up and have had babies of their own all with the Gàidhealtachd as an integral part of their lives. Please write your stories down, and if you have photos to share, we would love to see them. Once the information is collated, we will arrange to have a book printed. We will also have a photo board at Gàidhealtachd and would love to see your photos on this.

Registrations will open around the beginning of October and your offerings relating to the theme can be entered onto your registration form.
